600 Wilshire Receives LEED Gold Certification
Los Angeles, October 24, 2011 —MKP is pleased to announce that the 600 Wilshire Boulevard building in Los Angeles recently received their LEED Gold certification.
600 Wilshire is a 16-story office high-rise that was built in 1980 and renovated in 2000. The team worked hard on lowering operating expenses by reducing energy consumption through innovative methods. They also developed creative new programs for green cleaning that promote environmental responsibility.
The LEED performance period began in December 2010. The building now has an Energy Star rating of 100% resulting from a lighting retrofit, central plant control upgrades and VFD’s installed on the cooling tower & air handlers and an elevator modernization. Inefficient water fixtures were replaced with more energy efficient models with rebates from the City of Los Angeles. 600 Wilshire uses green cleaning methods and has a great recycling program. 80% of all construction waste is diverted and green TI specs are used for tenant construction. The tenants of the building were critical in achieving high LEED scores by participating in the Transportation survey as well as the Occupancy Survey.
