Means Knaus Controller Jim Harper Competes on Piping’s Biggest Stage
Houston, August 31, 2011 — Jim Harper, Means Knaus Company Controller, recently returned from a 10 day trip to Glasgow, Scotland, where he competed with the St. Thomas Alumni pipe band at the World Pipe Band championships. The band played at two contests the first weekend, placing 1st at the North Berwick Highland Games and 2nd at the Bridge of Allen Highlands Games. At the World Championships, more than 180 bands from around the globe competed. Jim’s band competed against 27 bands and placed 4th in a very competitive field. The trophy pictured dates back to 1947 and features the names of every band that has ever won this prestigious competition.
Congratulations to Jim and his band mates. Next year they plan to go back and take 1st!
