Mayor’s Office Adds One Oak Park to Houston’s Green Building Tour

Houston, December 16, 2009 One Oak Park, which recently earned LEED-NC (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-New Construction) Gold Certification, has been named a stop on the City of Houston’s Green Building Tour.

Launched by the Office of the Mayor in 2008, the tour demonstrates the features and benefits of “green” buildings, which are distinguished by high energy efficiency, use of sustainable materials and healthier working environments. The tour is free and open to the public.

One Oak Park, a 153,000 square foot Class A office property, was developed by Means Knaus Partners and designed by Gensler Architects. “We’re honored to be a part of the tour and proud to show the possibilities of a property focused on sustainability,” says Doug Knaus of Means Knaus Partners.

One Oak Park’s environmentally conscious features include efficient systems for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning, water-conservation systems and on-site recycling facilities. One Oak Park was constructed with a wide range of local/regional materials and low VOC-emitting products and has also earned an Energy Star from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Tenants and visitors to One Oak Park enjoy a host of features that bend sustainability with style. The property boasts large, efficient floor plates, light-filled office spaces, bicycle corral, a comprehensive fitness center and a tree-shaded exterior courtyard with wireless Internet service.

One Oak Park is located adjacent to the Sam Houston Parkway, at Rogerdale and Town Park, just south of the Westpark Tollway in Houston’s Westchase District. It is easily accessible from I-10 and Highway 59. The property’s 8.4 acre tract is deemed the finest in all of Oak Park at Westchase, with surroundings distinguished by greenspaces, water features and mature oaks.
