Means Knaus Earns Energy Star At Denver’s Park Central
DENVER, September 2, 2009 – Park Central, a 550,440-square-foot Class A business complex in Denver’s central business district recently earned the Energy Star Label. Managed by Means Knaus Partners, Park Central is yet another project that signals the company’s portfolio-wide commitment to energy conservation and environmental sustainability.
The Park Central management team faced many challenges in route to earning this prestigious designation. Obstacles such as the building’s black exterior were overcome thanks to HVAC upgrades and overall building-operation optimization. As a result, the property earned a score of 87 out of 100, 12 points higher than is required for the Energy Star Label.
“Property Manager Jodi Prentice, Chief Engineer Eric VanderJagt and the entire Means Knaus team at Park Central deserves credit for this outstanding effort,” says Means Knaus Chief Operating Officer Bob Nowak. “Their diligence and innovative solutions have produced an Energy Star score that far exceeded expectations.”
Energy Star is a program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy. An Energy Star qualified facility meets strict energy performance standards set by EPA and uses less energy, is less expensive to operate, and produces fewer greenhouse gas emissions than its peers.
